* THE GLOBAL COMPACT

VESTEL ELEKTRONİK A.Ş. aims to extend the vision of Turkey in terms of human rights, working conditions, environment and code of conduct. Our decision processes are directed with the idea of using all resources efficiently and taking each step by considering the future. 

We, as VESTEL ELEKTRONİK A.Ş., manage our economic, social, environmental and ethical codes with our identity of corporate sustainability. We have the awareness that no resource is infinite. Therefore, in compliance with our ethical codes, we work with the aim of improving the quality of people’s lives and keeping the balance of resources and natural life. 

Those values have framed our code of conduct since the beginning and assured our success throughout our journey over a half century. 

As a sign of our commitment to our goals we, as Zorlu Holding, have adopted the UN Global Compact in 2007 which contributes the institutionalization of this approach. 

The Global Compact, initiated and extended by the UN since 2000, consists of 10 principles in the areas of human rights, working conditions, the environment and anti- corruption. 

The principles are prepared with a guiding perspective so as to lead companies and organizations to reach higher targets in terms of risk management, increase of efficiency, motivation and loyalty of employees, brand awareness and access to new markets.

* ENVIRONMENT

VESTEL ELEKTRONİK A.Ş. complies with all regulations during the life cycle (from design to disposal) of the product, established for protecting the world ecological balances, which are progressively deteriorating. 

Along with the current legal regulations set out to this end, VESTEL ELEKTRONİK A.Ş. also complies with the E.U. directives issued in order to provide conformity of the legal measures taken at national levels in European Union member countries, and engages itself with the environmental policy in which this approach has been declared. 

The realization of VESTEL ELEKTRONİK A.Ş.’s environmental approach can only be achieved by including all the collaborators in the supply chain with in this approach. Our major expectation is that our suppliers comply with the list of prohibited / restricted substances, as per EU RoHS -Restriction of Hazardous substances, REACH, Battery, Packaging, WEEE directives and Turkish regulations- in order to provide environment-friendly products for our customers. All of our collaborators in the supply chain are expected to add RoHS data for all supplied materials/ parts into Vestel RoHSNet web site.

* ENERGY EFFICIENCY

VESTEL ELEKTRONİK A.Ş. systematically evaluates the energy efficiency of its operations and implements various projects related to this area. Our main objective is to reach a high level of production with low energy consumption. Accordingly, we review the energy consumption of our production processes and strive to obtain better results in terms of productivity and quality. Under the Environmental Management System, we manage energy consumption and related processes in tandem with the total productive maintenance (TPM) model, corporate business plans and the key performance indicators methodology. 

Senior executives regularly monitor and duly assess the relevant performance results. 

Our factory passed all the required audits in 2012 and obtained TS EN 50001 Energy Management System Certification. 

One of our major expectations is that all of our collaborators in the supply chain are involved with studies on energy efficiency. 

* CARBON EMISSION

VESTEL ELEKTRONİK A.Ş. acknowledges climate change as an important risk to the future of the world and our business sustainability. Being a responsible global citizen, we carry out remarkable studies about fighting with this problem. 

Our strategy on fighting against climate change- also a major subject of our environmental management- focuses on 3 main points: 

• Constant increase of resource productivity at all operational processes from supply to distribution. 

• Meeting our customers with the best eco-design energy saver products. 

• Informing the society about climate change and thus creating a social sensitivity and contributing solution seeking processes. 

Carbon emission data of VESTEL ELEKTRONİK A.Ş. is measured, reported and traced within the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). 

* QUALITY , TPM VE SCM

Our suppliers should also set a quality management system of similar content to increase performance and minimize deviations and waste as we have implemented as per ISO9001 Quality Management System since 1993, TPM( Total Productive Maintenance) and SCM (Supply Chain Management) projects. The system should be documented, implemented, pursued and improved continuously. 

Suppliers should set measurable quality objectives which could be achieved in a proper period as per their quality policy to respond the expectations of VESTEL ELEKTRONİK A.Ş. such as fulfilling the terms of supply. 

Suppliers should have a management revision process to assure the continuous improvement. The revisions should include all activity outputs aiming to trace the entire process performance. 

Suppliers should plan, implement, control and improve all activities so as to minimize variability in their activities and in the system overall.
